Minot, N.D. – The Minot Young Professionals are proud to announce the agenda and speakers of the 2012 Great Plains Young Professionals Summit. The Summit takes place in Minot, N.D. Thursday, June 7 and Friday, June 8 at the Grand International Inn.
Featured keynote speakers presenting at the Summit include Dr. Robert Boyd, Aaron Davis and Bob Upgren.
Dr. Robert Boyd, sponsored by North Dakota AARP, will be presenting at the luncheon on Thursday, June 7. Dr. Boyd retired from the University of North Dakota in 2011 where he served as Dean of Outreach Programs and Vice President for Student and Outreach Services. With more than 32 years of business and leadership experience Dr. Boyd has a special interest and expertise in the areas of leadership, organizational change, planning and ethics. His application of this expertise has won him recognition from a variety of sources.
Aaron Davis, sponsored by Ackerman-Estvold Engineering, will speak at the keynote breakfast on June 8 about performing like a champion, under pressure, from personal experience. As a member of the 1994 National Championship Nebraska football team and working with numerous corporations and organizations, he understands firsthand what it takes to perform like a champion and experience incredible results both personally and professionally.
The final keynote speaker, Bob Upgren will present during the Luncheon on Friday, June 8. He is one of the best performing chalk artists in the world, using this amazing talent to create life-changing metaphors that reinforce his message. He is the authoritative voice on artistic leadership, and uses his unique ideas to inspire groups to become more creative, innovative and visionary.
Several breakout speakers will also be presenting throughout the Summit. Those featured include young professional Nobu Hata, a member of the National Association of Realtor’s Strategic Planning committee, Ken Kitzman from the Minot Area Community Foundation’s Give 360 program and Josh Reimnitz leader of Students Today, Leaders Forever. Speakers from within the North Dakota Young Professionals network include Laurie Morse-Dell who will present “Creating Your Personal Brand,” Kayla Shafer and Molly Sullivan will present “Have a Long term plan? Strategic tools to get ahead” and there will also be a Young Professional’s Idea Share session.
Other unique events offered during the Summit will include an entrepreneur panel featuring Aaron Hill of the Fargo Brewing Company, Chuck Kramer of I.Keating Furniture, and Shanda Cool of Sweet and Flour Patisserie as well as a tour of the Minot Agricultural Park.
The Summit will feature many networking opportunities, breaks with sponsors and a downtown Minot social event. Registration and a social will begin Wednesday night June 6 from 6pm-8pm followed by networking games and entertainment. The cost of registration is $89 through Monday, May 15 and beginning May 16, registration is $109. Single day registration for Thursday, June 7 is available at $75. The conference is open to anyone over the age of 21.
