Big Response to Small Art!

Minot, ND) The Taube Museum of Art Main Gallery announces the opening of their fifth annual Small Works Exhibit & Auction, which is a collection of works no larger than 80 square inches. This exhibition is currently on display and will run through July 31, 2012. The 140 amazing diverse artworks will be available online after July 1st at www.taubemuseum.org with the ability for online visitors to place bids by email or phone. We also encourage the public to call to check on the status of their bids and we will be happy to “up” their bid if interested. The Lower Gallery features 55 small artworks from the gallery’s Executive Director Nancy F. Walter’s personal collection, which she has been collecting over the past 15 years.

Small art seems to have gained popularity over the years so the Taube Museum of Art created a venue for the excitement! Small artworks are easy for artists to ship, easy for people to purchase, and even easier to add to a collection, because they fit into a small space on a wall or a bookshelf. “We are very excited to have such a great response to this year’s exhibition! There were more artwork submissions than ever! The entries came from as far away as Louisiana, Colorado and Nebraska!” says Executive Director Nancy Walter. There are a total of 43 artists participating is this year’s event, repeat artists such as Jim Bailey, Karen Davidson, Linda Olson, Bill Harbort aka Billy Chuck, Dan Sharbono, Elizabeth Woods, Judith Greenwood, Karla Nelson, Nancy Walter, Margaret Lee, and Andrew Knudson. We are pleased to also have several newcomers this year, Rebekah Simensen aka NinjaGirl, Lindsey Auran, Jon Ross, Wendy Kimble, and Hooshang Khorasani just to name a few.

Exhibit dates are June 19 – July 31, 2012.  The event will wrap up with an Annual Summer BBQ and Auction that will be held on the final day of the exhibit, Tuesday evening, July 31, 2012 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, which is free and open to the public.

A portion of the auction proceeds will support the Taube Museum of Art, a non-profit organization, with the rest to the artist. Normal Museum and Gift Shop hours are: Tuesday – Friday: 10:30 am – 5:30 pm and Saturday: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm. There is no charge for admission, but contributions are accepted to help the Taube Museum fulfill their mission of enriching lives through the visual arts.
